SMITH HIGHLIGHTS RECENT RURAL BROADBAND "FIASCO"

12.00.00am GMT Thu 29th Oct 2009

Following news that an area of his constituency was without reliable internet access for a number of days last week, North East Fife's MSP Iain Smith said:

"It is concerning that an area can be without broadband for so long and it appears that there has been no reason given by BT to those affected.

"There are many people and businesses in the Newburgh area who rely heavily on good access to the internet and this fiasco has only served to highlight the poor broadband service available in North East Fife, both in terms of coverage and of advertised speed.

"I will be taking this matter up in order to persuade BT to invest in the broadband network in North East Fife."
