Local MSP Iain Smith and MP Sir Menzies Campbell took to St Andrews and Crail to promote British Tourism Week and called on people to look to North East Fife for their holiday this year.

Iain Smith MSP, who is also the Convener of the Scottish Parliament's influential Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee, was at Craigtoun Meadows by St Andrews on Friday.

He said:

"I suppose that I am biased but I cannot think of a better place for people to visit than North East Fife. From the picturesque fishing villages in the East Neuk, to the historic sites in Falkland and St Andrews, the extensive coastal walks and of course the world class golf, there really is something to appeal to all tastes.

"As the credit crunch hits homes up and down the country many people are looking to holiday at home and North East Fife ticks all the boxes as far as I am concerned."

Sir Menzies was at Sauchope Links Holiday Park in Crail at the weekend to open their new "Micro Lodges" in time for the Easter holidays praised the new "first class" development and called it "an impressive and unique alternative to camping and will undoubtedly be a hit with families who are looking to holiday at home rather than abroad this year."

He continued:

"It is becoming increasingly clear that more and more people are looking to stay in the UK for their summer holidays as the recession hits pockets. North East Fife has an extensive list of activities and attractions to appeal to almost every taste and judging by the increased bookings places such as Sauchope Links are experiencing, people are coming to North East Fife."
