"STILL SOME HOPE FOR PAPER MILL" - SMITH AND CAMPBELL

3.10.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 5th Aug 2008

North East Fife's MSP Iain Smith and MP Sir Menzies Campbell today (Tuesday) met with Fife Council, Scottish Enterprise and Curtis Fine Papers ex Managing Director to discuss the future of the Guardbridge paper mill. The meeting was a general discussion about the current state of play and what more can be done by those around the table.

Commenting on the meeting, Iain Smith MSP and Sir Menzies Campbell MP said, "It was clear from this morning's meeting that all those around the table were keen to see the mill stay open and make paper. There is still some hope for this as there are some serious interested parties currently in communication with the administrators. It is, however, important to note that this is a complicated matter and that we should not get carried away with the prospects."
