SMITH & CAMPBELL WELCOME LOCAL PLAN PROSPECT

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 25th Oct 2007

North East Fife Parliamentarians, Iain Smith MSP and Sir Menzies Campbell MP, have welcomed the "common sense" prospect of Fife Council keeping the Largo/Lundin Links and Falkland/Freuchie areas within the St Andrews and East Fife Local Plan at the planning meeting next Tuesday.

Remarking on the news, Mr Smith and Sir Menzies said, "This is a victory for local communities and clearly shows that Liberal Democrats in co administration of Fife Council will listen to the people unlike the previous Labour administration who rode roughshod over the clear and well established views of local communities.

"This clearly shows the Liberal Democrats in power make a positive difference. We congratulate our Liberal Democrat colleagues on Fife Council for their perseverance."
