SMITH SUPPORTS PLAN RE-APPRAISAL

8.03.42pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 2nd Jul 2007

Iain Smith MSP has supported the agreement of Fife Council to re-appraise the Fife Structure Plan, currently awaiting determination by Scottish Ministers, and he has written to John Swinney, the Cabinet Secretary for Finance & Sustainable Growth, asking that this be permitted. Mr Smith said, 'The decision to seek a re-appraisal of the Structure Plan, in particular with regard to the new General Register Office projections of household size and number, strikes me as eminently sensible in view of the new information. This plan will decide the shape of Fife up to 2026 so it is important to get it right.'
