Smith welcomes Elie Primary School news

12.17.17pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 24th May 2007

Following the news today from Fife Council that there will be no loss of teacher at Elie Primary School for the 2007-2008 session, Iain Smith, MSP for North East Fife, commented:

"I welcome this change of heart by Fife Council. I have made strong representations to Fife Council on behalf of the many parents and residents of Elie and Kilconquhar.

"They put forward a coherent and cogent case against removing a teacher from Elie Primary School and in particular about the need to prevent our youngest children being taught in a composite class of up to 25 children. I am pleased that Fife Council has listened to these concerns and withdrawn the proposal to axe a teacher."
