MSP Condemns Library Closure

7.29.42pm GMT Fri 9th Mar 2007

Library

Iain Smith has roundly condemned the decision of Fife Council to close the Galloway Library in Colinsburgh without any consultation of its users or even the local councillor.

Mr Smith said:

"The Labour administration of Fife Council has done it again! What on earth has happened to Fife Council's protocol, whereby the local member is consulted about the withdrawal of a service and also the users?

"This is completely unacceptable so I urge Fife Council to reverse the closure decision until proper consultation has been carried out with the local councillor and the library users."
