GATHERING REMAINS UNEXPLAINED - SMITH

Commenting after a Ministerial statement on the Gathering, Liberal Democrat Culture and Tourism spokesman Iain Smith MSP said:
"There are still unresolved issues on the Gathering.
"Loans were paid without due diligence being carried out on the companies loaned to.
"We are angry that the Government failed to take their responsibilities to the public purse seriously.
"The Government should have looked at other action that could have been taken to increase The Gathering Ltd's income, rather than simply bailing it out."
