North East Fife's MSP Iain Smith was volunteering at Barnardos' in St Andrews today as part of the CSV "Make a Difference Day".
The CSV campaign is the largest single day of volunteering in the UK, and every year tens of thousands of people give up an hour of their time to volunteer and make a difference.
Mr Smith spent an hour on the shop floor working with staff, speaking to customers, and dressing a mannequin to go in a window display.
Commenting afterwards Mr Smith said:
"In these uncertain times, the need for community spirit has never been more important and this campaign is the perfect way of highlighting the significance of kindness and helping others.
"Not only does volunteering your time benefit those in need or worse off than you, it is also a fantastic way of meeting new people, acquiring new skills, and enhancing your own CV.
"I would encourage everyone to do volunteer work at some point in their life, and the Make a Difference Day is the perfect way of highlighting how to do so even if you are short on time or do not know where to begin."
