SUMMER TOUR COMES TO AN END IN CRAIL

North East Fife Liberal Democrat MSP Iain Smith finished his trek around the East Neuk Coastal Path yesterday with a day in Crail.
Having spent previous nights pitching tents and enjoying Bed and Breakfasts, Mr Smith tried something new at Sauchope Links Park when he stayed in one of their newly installed Micro Lodges. Each Micro Lodge bears a close resemblance to a Hobbit-House, sleeps four and offers a dry and warm alternative to camping.
Commenting on the Micro Lodges, Mr Smith said:
"Since opening in March the Micro Lodges have been a great success. They offer affordable accommodation which is different, quirky, and makes for a memorable night's stay. In times of economic hardship it is important to offer quality products at reasonable prices; the Micro Lodges achieve this, and will be a great asset to North East Fife's economy for years to come."
After his night in the Lodge Mr Smith visited Crail Pottery where he met with the owners to discuss their business and how it is fairing in this dark economic time.
The family owned business has been in Crail since 1965, and produces a diverse range of stoneware and brightly coloured earthenware. Every item is hand thrown decorated and glazed on the premises.
Following his visit to the workshop and showroom Iain Smith said:
"The ability to see the product's transformation from start to finish is a unique experience to Crail Pottery, and it makes the visit more than just a trip to a pottery show room.
"It is reassuring to see a small, independent, family owned business thriving in the current economic downturn and I am sure it will continue to draw visitors to Crail."
