Christmas is upon us again and it is an excellent time for reflection on our own lives and on those to whom we are close. Reflect upon what you are thankful for, as there are undoubtedly many people who are not so fortunate.
It has been a tough year for the country as we all bite into the "credit crunch". North East Fife is far from sheltered from the economic woes as we are hit by job losses at Curtis Fine Papers, Kettle Produce and even Woolworths.
Now is the time for the Scottish and UK Governments to put money back in people's pockets by cutting income tax to help them through these hard times and to help stimulate the economy locally and nationally.
It has been a busy year in my constituency office, with a great deal of you coming in to see me with a wide variety of concerns and issues. Do not hesitate to contact me if there is any way in which I might be able to assist you. You can call on 01334 656361 or through www.iainsmith.org where you can also access the latest news and sign up for direct news bulletins.
I sincerely hope that everyone throughout North East Fife and beyond enjoys a memorable and enjoyable festive season and are able to look forward to a prosperous and enjoyable New Year in 2009.
