North East Fife MSP Iain Smith has blasted the SNP's plans to create gaps in key rail commuter services in North East Fife. The announcement from the Transport Minister Stewart Stevenson which sees changes to the Highland winter timetable will cause major gaps and increased journey times for North East Fife commuters.
Commenting, Iain Smith said, "The SNP Minister needs to explain why plugging gaps for Aberdeen and Inverness means more gaps in key commuter services for North East Fife.
"This new timetable sees the loss of certain key services and longer journey times from North East Fife stations. Commuters here in North East Fife already face the highest fares in Scotland, and now we are to pay the price of better services from Inverness & Aberdeen with slower trains and cuts in morning services to Kirkcaldy and Edinburgh. This is simply not acceptable."
