SMITH WELCOMES NE FIFE INVESTMENT PRIORITIES

June 16, 2008 12:00 AM

North East Fife MSP Iain Smith has welcomed the commitment from Fife Council to invest in a single site replacement Madras College and a recycling centre for the Tay Bridgehead area.

Commenting Mr Smith said, "This is welcome news indeed. For too long education in Fife was neglected by the Labour party and I am pleased that the new administration are reversing the decades of failure to address the key problems. Madras College has been condemned by the inspectors for it's split site setup and the new administration are taking giant leaps to address this.

Mr Smith continued by praising the Liberal Democrats in Fife Council for the investment in a recycling centre for the Tay Bridgehead area. "I and my Liberal Democrat colleagues on the council have been campaigning for this resource for a long time. Fife is doing very well by increasing its recycling rates and the provision of recycling centres will play a vital part in continuing this achievement. Many in the area have been calling for the centre and now the Liberal Democrats have delivered it."
