Following the recent news that Fife has broken the 40% barrier with regard to its recycling efforts for the first quarter of

the financial year, North East Fife MSP, Iain Smith has congratulated those in the constituency who contributed to this achievement.

Commenting, Mr Smith said, " it is clear that it only takes a little amount of effort on the part of all residents to make a

huge difference overall. Although Fife managed to recycle or compost around 6000 tonnes extra than the same time last year,

more needs to be done and it is easily manageable."

"Each household should take a moment to look at how the recycle, if at all, and come up with a few simple changes or

improvements such as composting food waste or collecting all paper and cardboard for recycling. By introducing simple

measures such as these it will help Fife to become the greenest region in the country."
