MSP not convinced by Post Office relocation plans
Iain Smith MSP yesterday met Peter Mylchreest from Post Office Ltd on site in St Andrews and pointed out to Mr Mylchreest the shortcomings of the proposed new accommodation for the Post Office in W. H. Smith. After the meeting Mr Smith said, 'My priority is to ensure that the customers of the Post Office in St Andrews suffer no deterioration in service should this move goes ahead; I was particularly anxious that Mr Mylchreest saw exactly what the situation is like what with the numbers of people using both the Post Office and W. H. Smith plus the layout of the latter. We studied the plans for rearranging the store not only to accommodate the Post Office services but also to ensure accessibility and I look forward to seeing further details. However I am still not convinced that this is going to work and Mr Mylchreest was left in no doubt of that. He is, however, willing to attend a public meeting should anyone care to organise one, so if that does take place I would encourage people to attend and put their points to the Post Office. This is a very important service for very many people and it must not be botched.'
