In a letter to Cllr Douglas Chapman, the newly appointed Chair of the Education and Children's services committee with Fife
Council, Iain Smith MSP for North East Fife has urged him to ensure that the reconsideration of the closure of Dunshalt
Primary School is put on the agenda for the first meeting of the Education Committee.
In the letter Mr Smith said that he feels that there is a very strong case for reconsideration of the proposed closure.
Furthermore, he writes, "You may be aware of the concerns regarding the quality of consultation by the previous
administration and also that the nature of the last vote on the matter was wholly unsatisfactory due to the closure only being
passed as a result of the votes of the unelected Religious Interest Representatives."

Dear Cllr Chapman
DUNSHALT PRIMARY SCHOOL
Congratulations on your recent appointment as Chair of Fife Councils Education & Children Services Committee.
I have been working with parents of pupils at Dunshalt Primary School over the past few months and feel that there is a very
strong case for reconsideration of the proposed closure. You may be aware of the concerns regarding the quality of
consultation by the previous administration and also that the nature of the last vote on the matter was wholly unsatisfactory
due to the closure only being passed as a result of the votes of the unelected Religious Interest Representatives.
In this regard I am writing to urge you to ensure that the reconsideration of the closure of Dunshalt Primary School is
put on the agenda for the first meeting of the Education Committee.
Yours Sincerely,
Iain Smith MSP
